Recently I contacted every person in government that represents me. I got automatic emails back from my senators saying their offices were closed and they could not take my message, and the White House has yet to reply to me after 10 days. The only response I got was yesterday from Congressman Steve Daines. While this email reply seemed cooky cutter, it did apply to the issue I contacted him about, and it did inform me of what bills he was backing concerning the disastrous ACA.
I ask our government and the world once again, why are our house leaders open for business, but our senators are not? Why has the House passed a dozen or so bills, and the senate refuses to see them? This is not a democrat versus republican argument, this is not a left versus right or liberal versus conservative argument. Two bills have been passed in the House as far as I know with a perfect yes vote, but we can’t even get the Senate to see those bills? WTF government.
I pray to you all that next year if the people of America get anything of value done, it is the removal of Senate majority leader Harry Reid. He has failed to lead the Senate into any kind of resolution or negotiation with the House of Representatives who have passed many bills prior to and during the government shut down, many of them clean spending bills as demanded that have no Obamacare language attached to them. When only half our government works, all the people suffer. Stop suffering and let your voices be heard, contact your senators, email them, call them, Facebook them, tweet them, for what its worth.
Here is the reply from my congressman for all that like to know, voices are still heard even during the shutdown.
Dear Mr. Periman:
Thank you for contacting me to express your strong support for defunding ObamaCare. I value your point of view, and you will be pleased to know that we agree.
Like you, I strongly believe Congress must act aggressively and urgently to defund, delay, and, ultimately, repeal ObamaCare. This law imposes a heavy tax and regulatory burden on American families and small businesses, and it will cause millions of Americans to lose the health coverage they currently have. It will also lead to higher health costs and higher premiums, and it will drastically increase federal spending by subsidizing health coverage for millions of Americans and greatly expanding Medicaid. Further, the law weakened competition and choice in Medicare and authorized a board of unelected officials to make further Medicare cuts. I believe ObamaCare’s government-centered approach represents the wrong solution for the health care challenges in our country.
For these reasons, I am a cosponsor of legislation (H.R. 2682) to fully defund ObamaCare and prevent any taxpayer dollar from going toward implementing the law. Further, I strongly believe Congress must take advantage of any and every opportunity to defund and delay ObamaCare, including imminent measures to provide fiscal year 2014 funding for the federal government and to respond to our nation again hitting the debt ceiling. Accordingly, I am a cosponsor of additional legislation (H. J. Res 62) that funds the government for one year but also defunds and delays ObamaCare for the same period. I urge President Obama to listen to the majority of Americans who are deeply concerned about the hardships ObamaCare will cause, and I will continue to do everything I can in the House of Representatives to spare Montanans and our fellow Americans from this law.
Again, thanks for contacting me. It is my number one priority in Congress to represent the values and interests of the people of Montana, and your input is very helpful as I do. I invite you to visit my website, http://www.daines.house.gov, to sign up for periodic email updates on the issues important to you. I won’t flood your email box, but I will provide you with updates once in a while about activities in Washington that affect our lives in Montana. I hope you will sign up so that we can stay in close touch, and I look forward to hearing from you again in the future.
Member of Congress
