Long past were the days of being arrested simply because of your color, or the cloths you wear, but alas the days have returned. America has come full circle as we punish those that break no law.
Last night I caught wind of a disturbing news story about Barneys and the treatment of a black teenager. Trayon Christian saved up for some time to purchase a 350 dollar belt from the store. His debit card from chase bank was used, and after he left the register the clerk contacted police forces to report a fraudulent purchase. Police met him outside the store, cuffed him and took him to the local station. They asked him “how a young black man such as himself could afford to purchase such an expensive belt,” and demanded multiple forms of identification, as well as his debit card and the receipt for the purchase. They accused Trayon of providing false identification, and only after confirming his identity with Chase bank did they come to the conclusion that he was telling the truth, and let him go.
Trayon returned the belt promptly to the store for a refund, due to his treatment and is now suing both the store and the NYPD.
I am not usually one to enjoy the thought of lawsuits, but good God kid I hope you get paid big dollars, lets not forget, you probably should file criminal charges against the individual clerk for her racist ways.
On a slightly related note, I have to wonder if the mother of the daughter who I mentioned in my previous post was only arrested because she as well was black.
